CHICKERELL United manager Steve Coward has called for a reaction from his title-chasing charges, as they are set to pit their wits at home against title rivals South Cheriton United.

The Chickens were choked last time out, suffering a 5-3 reverse at Gillingham Town Reserves, but the Stalls boss insists there is no need to panic going into their crunch clash tomorrow (2pm).

“All the lads were annoyed with themselves and apologetic, but they have just got to react to it,” he told Echosport.

“They know they had a bad game last week and if they had a good game every week they wouldn’t be playing at this level.

“You aren’t going to win every game in the year and we are only halfway through the season.”

Chickerell will be without Josh Burton for the showdown tomorrow, but Nick Etherington should be back available for Coward to call on.

Commenting on South Cheriton, he said: “It’s a big game for us. I know a few of their players through county level and they have a big presence up front, they are very strong and powerful.”

Elsewhere in the division, league leaders Balti House are without a game this weekend, while Dorchester Sports host Corfe Mullen United.

Bottom club Portland United Reserves will go in search of their second win of the campaign when they take on Witchampton United at Grove Corner (all 2pm).
