KINGS Arms stand on the brink of clinching the Weymouth Sunday League title.

A point against Broadmayne this weekend is all they need to secure first place.

New Star, who are not in action, could still catch the leaders but it would take pigs to start flying before that happens.

Even if Kings Arms lose their three remaining games and New Star win the four matches they have left, the Portland side will need a swing in goal difference of biblical proportions to claim the championship.

Braces for Dean Williams and Danny Andrews, along with strikes from Tom Arliss and Norton Rogers, took Kings Arms to a 6-1 win over Market House last Sunday.

New Star walloped Bakers Arms 10-0 to make a tiny dent in the Redlands outfit’s huge goal difference advantage.

However, with that standing at +77 in King Arms’ favour, the chances of the title going anywhere other than the Trinity Road establishment are as close to zero as you can get.

While Kings stretched their amazing record to 19 wins from 19 this season last weekend, bottom side Junction Trojans were celebrating a second successive triumph.

After seeing off Weatherbury, the Trojans were 6-3 winners against Broadmayne – unfortunately for the Trojans they don’t have enough fixtures left to finish anywhere other than at the foot of the table.

Dolphin did their chances of nicking second place no harm with a comfortable 6-1 win at Sailors Return.

Sean Gulliver, Ross Jones, Oscar Preece and Sean Zima found the target, while Bryn Lewis came off the bench to score a brace.

Finally, Famous Old Spa secured an eighth victory from their last nine outings thanks to a 6-1 defeat of The Alex.
