BRIDPORT and Brislington fought out a goalless draw for the second time this season at St Mary’s Field on Saturday.

The stalemate means the Bees have now only scored twice in their last six league matches – not exactly the form you want before a trip to table-topping Melksham Town.

That said, an eighth clean sheet in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division this term didn’t disappoint boss Trevor Sen- ior.

However, the Bridport manager knows goals win games and things just aren’t going for his side in that department at the moment.

“It was one of our best performances for a while, but we can’t seem to score,” he told Echosport.

“We are creating chances and we should have scored more than one on Saturday.

“Our set-pieces and delivery from crosses was good, we just couldn’t put them away.

“In the first half, their keeper made a really good save from Chris Clarke’s header.

“I was stood right behind it and the ball was going in before he tipped it round the post.

“Tom Richardson then drilled a shot which hit their player on the line and went wide.

“Matt Condliffe also hit a shot from an angle which the keeper turned onto the post for a cor- ner.

“Ashley Weeks didn’t have a save to make in the first half and it was pretty much the same in the second half.”

He continued: “They had a couple of breakaways which didn’t come to much.

“Our best chance fell to Tom but he missed the target after good work from Shane Evans.

“The pitch wasn’t the best and a lot of the time the ball was getting stuck under our feet.

“There was a lot of goalmouth action but not many scoring chances.

“The lads were really disappointed afterwards because they felt it was like two points dropped rather than one gained.

“I was pleased with how we played apart from the fact that we didn’t get any goals.”

Warren Byerley, Chris Senior and Dan Wise all missed the game but will be back for the clash with Melksham at the week- end.
