WEYMOUTH RESERVES 4 WAREHAM RANGERS 1

TWO goals each for strike duo Conor Jevon and Josh Tennant ensured Weymouth Reserves got back to winning ways at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

The triumph was Jake Richmond’s troops’ 19th league win of the season, and put to bed a run of two defeats in all competitions.

The Terras opened the scoring inside the opening 10 minutes when striker Jevon was played through and, after trying to lift the ball over the Rangers’ keeper, he tucked home the rebound.

A good team move from the home side then culminated in Tennant opening his account for the afternoon after latching on to Jevon’s cross.

On 53 minutes, a moment of magic from Szymon Matuszewski helped the home side extend their lead further.

After some neat build-up play, the Polish playmaker took two players out of the game with an imaginative piece of trickery and after he played a defence-splitting ball to Tennant, the former Magpies’ hitman did the rest.

The Terras’ then changed their shape for the final 20 minutes, and Jevon cut in from the flank and hammered a strike which proved too hot to handle for the Wareham keeper who, despite getting a touch, could not prevent Richmond’s men adding a fourth.

And just after Ryan Park pulled off a sublime stop in the home goal, some poor defending from the Terras meant they failed to keep a clean sheet as Wareham pulled back a consolation effort.

“In patches we played some really good stuff and got back to winning ways which the lads are pleased about,” manager Richmond told Echosport.

“The second and third goals are what we are all about, it was good passing and movement with one and two-touch football.

“The third one in particular just oozed quality. We deserved the win but credit to Wareham, they were never really in the game but kept going and kept fighting.

On scorers Jevon and Tennant, he added: “We played them as a front two and had a fair bit of joy with it. We normally like to play a 4-5-1 and have one of them drop into the hole.

“If they played together every week then I think they could probably get 30 goals each in this league, but we are here to develop them for the first-team and it’s a win- win situation for the club.”
