PORTLAND United have a golden opportunity to enhance their title prospects in the Dorset Premier League this weekend.

The Blues welcome Blandford United to Grove Corner tomorrow (3pm), while top two Merley Cobham Sports and Hamworthy Recreation do battle at Magna Road.

And the Blues boss is keen for his side to extend their winning run and put pressure on their fellow title hopefuls.

“Something has to give there and it’s important that we capitalise on either one of them or both of them dropping points,” Bailey said.

“It doesn’t matter what happens there, we still have to win our game.”

The island manager is hoping to have Lewis Clarke and Adam Linaker back in his squad tomorrow but Charlie May is suspended.

Bailey also revealed that an illness bug had been going the Blues’ ranks.

He said: “I’m a bit under the weather at the moment and there is a bit of a bug going around the club, but hopefully we will all pull through for the weekend.”

Lewis Whyton and goalkeeper Ian Bickerstaff are also believed to have been affected, but the Grove Corner chief is confident the duo will be fit.

Also commenting on the clash, Royals’ manager Bradley Asagba added: “Obviously they are playing for the title and we are just trying to finish as high up the league as possible.

“In terms of our squad, with it being our last game of the season, we may have to stop in town on the way and see if anyone fancies a game!

“But nonetheless, it’s essential for the players that they give a good account of themselves and don’t let themselves down.”
