MARK Jermyn has revealed that the Magpies are looking to put measure in place which would deter players from missing training and matches for non-football reasons.

The Dorchester boss says the plan is to draw up an official "code of conduct" to run alongside a player’s contract.

Unavailability during the season due to personal engagements such as holidays and weddings is a major bugbear of Jermyn.

Dorchester experienced it several times throughout the current campaign, and it was something that didn’t go unnoticed by the fans.

Jermyn told Echosport: “As well as having normal contracts, we’re also going to have a separate code of conduct contract that will run alongside.

“It has been done before but it has got to be done properly this time.

“This season people weren’t at training or available for games because of pre-agreed holidays.

“That doesn’t sit right with me and I don’t see why people should be getting away with it.

“Being a semi-pro club, you can’t stop people doing it, but there will be financial implications next season.

“And not only that but people will be sitting out games and not walking straight back into the team. If I didn’t turn up I sure as hell wouldn’t expect to get paid.”

Jermyn has also given Echosport an update on the club’s position regarding Mark Irvine, Bradley Tarbuck and Lewis Horsburgh.

“Mark is now out of contract at Southampton and he is set to come back to us for pre-season,” he added.

“Bradley has gone back to Portsmouth but he is someone we are keeping an eye on.

“Should things not happen for him there then we’d like him to come to us during pre-season while he looks for another club.

“We will also have a chat with Lewis in the summer.”

Meanwhile, Luke Woodland scored twice as the Magpies’ reserves beat Team Solent 2-1 at the Avenue in their penultimate Wyvern Premier Division outing of the season.
