BRIDPORT RESERVES 7 POOLE BOROUGH 0

DAN Baggs netted a hat-trick as Bridport Reserves’ boss Shaun Annetts bagged his first win in the managerial hot-seat at St Mary’s Field.

Captain for the day Jack Scovell also scored twice in the Bees’ final Dorset Premier League outing of the season.

The game was the last for striker Scovell in a Bridport shirt before he goes to university in the autumn.

Annetts, who has taken over from former chief Robin Townsend, saw his charges go 3-0 up in the first half.

A Baggs double put the Bees in control against a poor Poole outfit and then Scovell added goals either side of the break.

Substitute Tristan Gale made it 5-0, Baggs completed his treble, and Chris Herbst rounded things off with the seventh.

“I was chuffed for the lads,” said Annetts. “We perhaps could have been a bit more clinical in front of goal but I was pleased with the seven we did score.

“Although Poole battled hard for around 20 minutes they were not at their best and it was quite a kind fixture for me to get my first win.

“But we still played well and the players did everything I asked of them before the game.

“Dan Baggs was magnificent all afternoon and I made Jack Scovell captain as it could be his last game for a while.”

He added: “It’s nice to go into the summer break on the back of such a good win, and everyone is already looking forward to coming back for next season.

“I sincerely hope to keep all the other players next season and I’ll be working hard over the summer to do that.

“I believe that with those players and a few fresh faces we could, and should be, challenging for the top six next season, and that will be the aim.”
