WEYMOUTH capped an evening of celebration at their end-of-season awards by securing both George Rigg and Calvin Brooks on contracts for next season.

The duo both penned fresh deals on the night and manager Jason Matthews also revealed to Echosport that midfielder Dean Evans has agreed non-contract terms with the club for the 2015/16 campaign.

Speaking about the re-signing of Brooks and Rigg, the Terras’ boss said: “I’m delighted to get both of them on board.

"They are both good talents and I am really happy that they have agreed to sign one-year contracts with us.

“I felt that it was important we got our young assets on contracts and that is what we have done. We look forward to a few more faces joining them over the next few weeks.

“They are another year wiser and hopefully we can kick on from the strides we made last season.

“I didn’t think there was too much wrong with the squad last year. We may have been a bit unbalanced and lacked a bit of bite, but Dean Evans has agreed terms on a non-contract basis as well and he will help us with that.”

Commenting further on Brooks, Matthews added: “Calvin has done really well for me since he came from Yeovil.

“If he progresses like he has over the last six months he will probably have Football League clubs after him.”

Former Bristol City man Rigg was also reported to have had a number of Football League scouts casting their eyes over his performances last October.

Meanwhile, Chris Shephard scooped a hat-trick of awards at the presentation night, and there were also prizes for Chris McPhee and Stewart Yetton.
