JASON Matthews has revealed the latest on his hunt for a new assistant-manager.

The Terras’ player-boss had previously indicated that two people had thrown their names into the hat for the position.

But Matthews has now hinted that he may also explore other possible avenues before inviting a candidate to become his permanent number two.

Commenting on the search, he told Echosport: “I have had some positive talks and it is just a case of being patient.

“There are one or two others I would like to talk to and there are people within the camp that I would also like to talk to as well.”

Alongside looking to add to his backroom staff, Matthews has already tied down a number of his current playing squad on new deals for next term.

However, while insisting his group does not need too much of a shake up, he also revealed that he had met with potential new additions and discussed the idea of them arriving at the Bob Lucas Stadium next season.

“I have met a few of my targets and given them a week to think about coming to Weymouth,” added Matthews.

“We will see over the next seven days as to whether they want to come to the club or not.

“There will probably be two or three new additions and one or two will probably get released.”
