THE Terras celebrated their 2014/15 campaign in style at Weymouth Pavilion’s Ocean Ballroom, handing out a vast array of end-of-season awards to members of the club’s first team, reserves and under-18s.

The event, organised by the club’s Supporters Association, hosted a good turnout of players from all three squads on the night, as well as a healthy contingent of supporters.

Commenting on the evening, Supporters Association chairman Ade MacDonald told Echosport: “I thought it was a really successful night.

“The comments and feedback I have received has been really good and I didn’t see anyone who wasn’t having a nice time. It is a pleasure to do things like that.

“It was great to see a good turnout from the first team and the reserves, as always.

“It was also great to have the under-18s there as well.

“It brings the club together and it shows that the club is advancing.

“In the awards, Charlie Jones, who got the reserves’ young player of the season, had come through the under-18s and that’s what it is all about. You can see the progression.

“We have already thought about doing the same night for next season and looking at ways to make it better again."

Chris Shephard stole the show on the evening in the first team squad, picking up prizes for the supporters’ home player of the season, the players’ player of the season and the manager's player of the season.

Unfortunately, Shephard could not attend the evening as he was on his stag weekend, so Terras favourite Trevor Challis accepted the awards on his behalf.

There were also trophies in the senior squad for player-coach Chris McPhee, who claimed the supporters’ away player of the season, and deadly frontman Stewart Yetton, who unsurprisingly picked up the golden boot for Jason Matthews’ squad.

In the reserve ranks, Polish playmaker Szymon Matuszewski was voted the supporters’ player of the season after making the switch from Westland Sports earlier in the campaign.

The players’ player went to striker Josh Tennant and defender Lee Sharpe sealed the manager's player award from boss Jake Richmond.

Charlie Jones was named the young player of the season and Matt Harvey collected his award for the most improved player in the squad.

The reserves also paid tribute to their outgoing boss Richmond, rewarding him and assistant Nick Bennett with presents to show their gratitude for their hard work with the squad.

In the under-18s, Adie Brain stepped up on no fewer than three occasions to land prizes for supporters’ player, players’ player and manager's player of the year.

Hotshot Aaron Ryan was given the golden boot and there were special recognition awards for duo George Parkinson and Bailey Johns for their efforts throughout the campaign.

After each manager had reflected on their season and given thanks to various people that had offered their support throughout the campaign, first-team boss Matthews and chairman Chris Pugsley had one more surprise in store on the night.

They asked duo Calvin Brooks and George Rigg to step forward and sign new one-year deals with the club for next season.

On the signings, MacDonald added: “Both of them are popular players among the fans and it was brilliant, it capped the awards off nicely.

“It was nice to have the chairman there as well and I had a good chat with him, and we are looking forward to working on a few things going into next season.”

Chuffed with the night as a whole, MacDonald wished to thank to a number of people who made the event possible.

He added: “I’d like to thank all of the Supporters Association Board, in particular Pete Nash.

"He did about 75 per cent of the organising and I’d like to give my personal thanks to him and Julie Martin for doing the photos for us as well.

“The event is too big to have at the club now, we need a bigger venue for it, and the Pavilion ticks all the boxes really. I'd like to thank them too.”

MacDonald also wished to show his gratitude to all of the individual trophy sponsors on the night, as well as Air 107.2 for all of their efforts throughout the evening.
