DORCHESTER chief Mark Jermyn has tied down five more of last season’s squad to year-long deals – but Dan Smith won’t be at the club next term.

Goalkeepers Alan Walker-Harris and Shane Murphy, defenders Jake Smeeton and Matt Oldring, and midfielder Lewis Morgan all signed on the dotted line today.

Player-manager Jermyn also revealed that Smeeton would be retaining the captaincy for the 2015/16 campaign.

However, the Magpies have parted company with winger Smith, who was brought to the Avenue by former boss Phil Simkin just under a year ago.

Speaking to Echosport about those players following in the footsteps of Chris Dillon – he signed a 12-month contract last week – Jermyn said: “It’s great that we’ve got the five of them to agree deals.

“What stands out most about them all is their attitude and they are the sort of people we are looking to work with."

Commenting on each of the quintet, Jermyn added: “Alan has been around the club for a while and is a respected goalkeeper. His attitude and commitment has been superb over the last couple of years.

“Shane is someone who should be challenging for the number one shirt next season. He did well when he came in last season and I think he has got a bright future.

“Matt’s performances last season spoke for themselves and he is another one with a great attitude to the game.

“He always gives you 110 per cent and is technically very good on the ball.

“Lewis started putting in some very mature performances towards the end of the season and I feel he has got a lot more to offer.

“Jake is a model pro and has led by example as Dorchester captain, and he deserves to keep the armband. He is a very good player and someone I am really pleased to be working with.”

Jermyn also said that the split with Smith was “amicable” and everyone at the club wishes him the best for the future
