YOUNGSTERS hoping to climb the football ladder are being given the chance to do so in Dorchester.

Dorchester Town are set to enter a team in the South West Counties Youth League next season and trials will take place next month.

Players looking for an opportunity to progress within the environment of a semi-professional club are being sought.

Those interested need to be at least 15 but not older than 18 by August 31, while Kingston Maurward College hosts trials on Saturday, June 20 and 27 between 11am and 1pm (players to arrive by 10.30am).

Anyone keen to try out should contact Martin Pashen (07710996911) or Simon Evans (07917157128).

Meanwhile, the Dorchester Town Academy returns to action on Friday, June 5.

Training for under-9s, 10s and 11s (6pm-7pm) and under-12s, 13s and 14s (7pm-8pm) will take place every Friday at Dorchester Sports Centre until July 10.

Academy manager Scott Symes is also calling on any youngsters who “feel they have the dedication and ability to join these sessions”.

“The academy runs very efficiently and we’ve got a nucleus of players from Dorchester and Weymouth,” he said.

“We’ve got approximately eight to 12 players in each age group but we have got the capacity for 10-15.”

Symes can be contacted on 07826924769.
