MARK Jermyn has revealed that the Magpies are “not done yet” in their pursuit of new signings.

The Dorchester player-manager told Echosport that they have got “quite a few to make”.

And when asked what areas of the field he was hoping to add to, he said: “We are looking for one of each – a striker, defender and midfielder.”

Jermyn is currently in talks with the likes of Nathan Walker, Ashley Nicholls and Dan Cann, while he will also continue to look at several triallists during pre-season.

“We’re still in talks with a few players,” said the Magpies chief. “We’re not done yet, we’ve got quite a few signings to make.

“We just need to manage the money side of it because we haven’t got the biggest budget in the league.

“We were in talks with Mark Molesley as well but just couldn’t match what other people were willing to offer him.

“It was unfortunate for us but that’s where we are at the moment. Hopefully it won’t be for too much longer.”

Dorchester go to Bridport for their second friendly of the summer tomorrow night (7.45pm).

The first one against Salisbury last Wednesday ended in a 2-0 defeat for the Avenue outfit but Jermyn still felt there were some positives to take from it.

“I thought Charlie Davis did really well, Neil Martin was okay, and the lads on trial from Exeter did well too,” he added.

“Jonah Ayunga played the second half and he is someone we like the look of.”
