MANAGER Jason Matthews has confirmed to Echosport this evening that the Terras have put in a seven-day approach to sign striker Ben Thomson from Frome Town.

Thomson, a target the Weymouth player-manager has scouted for a lengthy period of time, was replaced after 55 minutes during Frome’s 5-1 away defeat against Chesham United on Saturday.

Commenting on the potential move, Matthews told Echosport: “I’ve put an approach in for Ben Thomson. He is someone I have looked at over five or six games.

“He is quick and pacey and probably something we haven't got in the squad at the moment, which we are always looking to improve."
