IN-FORM Charlie Davis is relishing the prospect of heading back to former club Poole Town tomorrow and believes the Magpies are “more than capable of getting a result” against his old employers.
Davis, who scored a scintillating free-kick against Stratford Town at the Avenue in Dorchester’s 3-1 win on Saturday, made the switch from Tatnam to join the county town club in the summer.
The former Cherries youngster was also loaned out to Dorchester by the Dolphins last season.
The midfield ace said: “I am still in contact with a lot of the Poole lads and it’s nice to be going back there.
“I don’t think there were any hard feelings when I left and I think everyone understood my reasoning.
“Dorchester have been so welcoming from the players, fans and management. I could not have asked for a smoother transition and I am really enjoying my football at Dorchester now.”
And Davis believes a positive outcome against the Dolphins would send a message out to the rest of the division that Dorchester mean business.
He added: “I think people underestimated us at the start of the season. With the Weymouth result people started to sit up and take note.
“As players and management, the only thing we are setting our standards for is to push and really make something happen this season.
“With the Poole game I think we are more than capable of getting a result and making people more aware of us than they probably are at the moment.
“These are the games where you have to go and prove to people that you are really going to contend this season.”
