WEYMOUTH RESERVES 1

BRIDPORT Reserves’ chief Shaun Annetts had “no complaints” after his side were edged out by their Weymouth counterparts at St Mary’s Field.

The Terras, who have climbed up to second spot in the Dorset Premier League with the victory, got their winner on 81 minutes as Ashley Ayley made no mistake from the penalty spot.

Bees’ boss Annetts said: “We created nothing really in the second half, it was disappointing that we weren’t inventive enough, or able to create too much.

“But that was because they were the better side in the second half and they didn’t allow us to settle – I have no complaints with the result.

“In the second half, I think Weymouth upped their game a little bit.

“With some better finishing, they probably could have won it a bit more comfortably.”

Having gone in at the break at 0-0, the game was decided when Bridport’s Gary Bulman was adjudged to have handled on the line and was given his marching orders by the match official.

Up stepped Weymouth’s Ayley to convert from the spot, with what proved to be the winner.

The Bees did however, have one chance when Tom Blair got down the right-hand side and delivered for Tristan Gale, who just failed to connect and put the ball home.

The Bees are next in action tomorrow when they host Mere Town at St Mary’s Field (7.45pm). Weymouth host Wareham Rangers at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday (3pm).
