NATHAN Walker will get his last chance to take over Charlie Davis at the top of the goal scoring charts when the Magpies take on Kettering Town at the Avenue tomorrow (3pm).

The versatile defender – who has been plying his trade up front in recent times – has 11 goals to his name this season while Davis has 12.

With personal pride on the line the two have been sharing some laughs about the race, however, stand-in captain Walker is more worried about gaining three points in the final game of the season.

He told Echosport: “I want to score in every game. If I am up front I want to score.

“Me and Charlie have got a little race for the golden boot so hopefully I can beat him to that.”

Davis scored the opener on Tuesday night, as the Magpies beat Stratford Town 2-1 away from home, to move ahead of Walker in the goal scoring stakes.

Walker’s last goal came from a tap-in in the loss to Redditch nearly two weeks ago, and he is hoping that his side can finish with a flourish.

He added: “It doesn’t matter who scores really, we just want to win games and we want to do that again on Saturday.”

There are no fresh injury concerns for the Magpies heading into the game against Kettering, a team that beat them 3-0 back in February.
