DORCHESTER RESERVES 2

PETERSFIELD RESERVES 3

DORCHESTER Reserves ended their season on a sour note with a 3-2 loss at home to Petersfield Town Reserves in the Wyvern Combination League on Tuesday night.

Jordan Neal opened the scoring early on at the Avenue for the visitors before James Springer levelled the game.

A Josh Hills own goal helped the visitors restore their lead but Caleb Tennant fired the hosts level again before half-tme.

But Harry Giles netted the winner for Petersfield midway through the second half and this time the Magpies could not respond.

The home side had very little to play for heading into the clash and they started slowly.

After giving away a foul on the edge of the area, Neal found the back of the net in the ninth minute from the free-kick.

The goal sparked the Magpies into life and they equalised soon after.

Springer turned well inside the area and fired a vicious shot past Josh Young in the Petersfield goal to level the game.

But parity didn’t last long as a cross from the right hit Hills’ head and it flashed past the helpless Alan Walker-Harris in the Magpies’ goal.

Tennant brought his side level just before the half-time whistle as a corner went through everyone to leave the midfielder with an easy close-range finish at the back post.

After the interval, Peterfield attacked and they got their rewards late in the second period.

Giles controlled the ball well in the box and stroked a sublime finish home from a tight angle.

Owen Nicholson went closest for the Magpies as his free-kick hit a post but the hosts were unable to find a third leveller.
