BRIDPORT star Ryan Dovell has stated his intentions to stay with the Bees next season despite having no contact with the incoming manager Adam Fricker.

The club stalwart assisted interim boss Mark Carter in the Bees’ turbulent end to the season where they won just once in 19 games.

However, Dovell is hoping to remain at the club and is open to the possibility of another coaching role too.

He said: “I haven’t spoken to him as of yet but I’ve heard he has spoken to some people around the club.

“I’ll just have to wait and see what happens.”

“If he wants me to stay at the club then I’m happy to do so and if I have a regular spot in the team.

“I’ll let him know my situation and he will tell me his plans and we will see where we go from there.”

Speaking about the end of season run, where the Bees struggled to get a full playing squad, Dovell found his time as part of the management staff eye-opening.

He added: “It was a stressful time but it was something I’d like to look into in the future.

“If Adam wants me to do that with the squad, it would be something I’d be happy to do.”

“I’m going to relax and chill out for a couple of weeks and then get back into a little of training before pre-season.”

* New Bridport boss Fricker has left the door open to any of his Chard Town players to join him at the Bees this summer.

He has invited them all to pre-season with at least three confirmed to join him at St Mary’s Field for the 2016/17 season.
