GEORGE Rigg admitted his time with the Terras “made me enjoy my football again” after it was announced he had left the club this week.

The all-action midfielder, who was reported to have had attracted a number of scouts from the Football League during his time in a Weymouth shirt, also wished to thank the entire setup at the Bob Lucas Stadium for his “thoroughly enjoyable” spell there.

Rigg is expected to sign for Bath City in the coming days but admitted it was a tough choice to head out the exit door at Weymouth and will be keeping tabs on the Terras’ progress in the future.

In an interview with Echosport reflecting on his time with the club, Rigg said: “I met some amazing people and I love all the lads.

“We get on really well and they have made it so enjoyable for me.

“It’s going to be really hard to find a better bunch of lads than that lot.

“I had a really hard decision to make. Obviously I live in Bristol and travelling to Weymouth two or three times a week is a big commitment and it was getting in the way of work.

“We both came to the agreement that it was probably the best thing for me to do and Jase (Matthews, manager) was happy for me, really because he understands how much of a commitment it is.”

He added: “I was Jason’s first signing as a manager and Weymouth, as a club, made me enjoy my football again.

“When I came to the club I didn’t really know what to expect or how long I was going to stay but it just went from season to season. I enjoyed it and everyone got on well.

“It is a big family club, everybody was close and it was thoroughly enjoyable.

“I loved being around the club and the people in the club, from the staff to every single one of the fans.

“I’d like to thank Jase and the lads for making it so enjoyable for me.

“Every Saturday in the season, come around half-past five, I will be on my phone seeing how they are getting on.”
