MAGPIES’ boss Mark Jermyn has revealed that up to six players will be signing new deals on Tuesday as he looks to mould his squad for next season.

The manager, who has been busy in contact with his existing squad as well as talking to prospective signings, knows it’s pivotal to start confirming players for the upcoming campaign.

He told Echosport: “It’s important we start getting people signed on and start building for next season.

“There have been delays but now we’re moving forward.”

Only one player – Shane Murphy – has been confirmed for next season but more are on the way.

Jermyn added: “We’ve agreed terms with a few players and these will be confirmed soon.

“We’ve also got a couple of players coming down to pre-season so we can have a look at them.

“We need to make sure they are players that we want.

“But things are shaping up and we’re moving forward.”

One player who won’t be returning to the Avenue is Bradley Tarbuck.

The striker has moved to Havant & Waterlooville and Jermyn was sad to see him go.

“For Brad it was about being more local, and the door is always open for him.

“It’s sad to see him go but we’re now on the lookout for someone else.”
