BOSS Gary Bailey believes the inclusion of Portland’s Carl Mutch in a full coaching capacity next season will “bring something different” to the Blues’ set-up.

Mutch will be part of the Blues’ coaching team alongside Chris Wilson, Mark Carter and Bailey himself in the first-team at Grove Corner.

And, although he may still register him as a player, island manager Bailey is happy to have Mutch on board in his backroom staff.

Explaining the situation further, he told Echosport: “Carl’s stepping up into a coaching capacity.

“He will be working with Reggie (Mark Carter) and Chris Wilson with the first-team squad. I will probably register him as a player but his intentions are not to play too much.

“Carl has been at the club for a long time in several spells and has been a great servant on the pitch. He is a big character to have in the dressing room and the boys like him.”

Bailey added: “He will bring something different to the coaching side of it, it’s something he is keen to develop. Obviously he is new to it and will be looking to Chris Wilson, myself and Reggie for a bit of guidance on where he goes but he is very enthusiastic in getting involved on that side of it.

“We don’t want to lose people like that from the club and, if we can find roles for them and they are willing to stay and take them up, I am more than happy with that. With the amount of fixtures we have got the more you can have people around helping you with training and game days, you can’t have too much quality help. Carl falls into that remit.”
