MAGPIES’ player-manager Mark Jermyn insists it isn’t time to panic as his squad gear up for a trip to Chesham United tomorrow (3pm).

The county town side will be without their boss for the game as he awaits the imminent birth of his second child, just as they were for Tuesday’s 4-0 away defeat to Cinderford Town.

That result, coupled with their opening day loss to Kettering Town, leaves them bottom of the Evo-Stik Southern Premier table, but Jermyn feels that it’s too early to read anything into it.

He told Echosport: “We can’t read too much into the results, it’s no time to panic. It’s nowhere near.

“Weymouth got smashed 4-1 on Tuesday against Chippenham and, if anyone should be panicking, you would probably say ‘what’s going on down there?’

“They have three more points than us, so what’s the problem?"

He added: “It’s frustrating for me because I want to be involved and I think having a full squad will give us a great opportunity.

“Chesham will be right up there this season and it will be a tough test.”

The Magpies welcome back Ben Wood to the team after he missed Tuesday night’s defeat and the manager is optimistic Chris Dillon will be fit following a groin strain picked up in pre-season against Wimborne Town.

Nathan Walker remains unavailable for the county town side.
