PARLEY SPORTS 2

DORCHESTER Sports got off to the perfect start in the Dorset Premier League in the sunshine at the Avenue Stadium with a battling 3-2 victory over Parley Sports.

A hat-trick from Jamie Morgan saw the hosts home in a tense encounter.

The visitors started the brighter and should have scored early on when a ball across the six-yard box found an unmarked striker at the back post but he blazed over from just two yards out.

After the scare, Dorchester settled and took the lead when Jamie Samways teed up Jamie Morgan on the edge of the box to fire past the Parley keeper in the 12th minute.

Undeterred, the visitors continued to apply the pressure and it was too much for the hosts to handle.

After 22 minutes, the hosts’ captain Cormac Lochrie gave away a penalty which was taken well by Parley’s Matthew Newbery to level it up. The hosts had Matty Peart to thank in goal as he made three good saves before Dorchester took the lead just before half-time.

A break down the right saw Jordan Butler cross for Morgan to head in his second of the game.

The second half was end to end and it was Parley who struck first.

They levelled on the hour mark as Peart put a cross in to his own net.

The home side didn’t give up and they thought they had won it in the 80th minute when Richard Beasley’s cross was met by Morgan but he blazed high over the Avenue stand from two yards out.

Morgan and Dorchester were not going to be denied the perfect start and just three minutes later Brandon Heal crossed low for the striker to smash the ball into the net and bag the points for the hosts.
