CRANBORNE 0

DORCHESTER Sports bounced back from Tuesday night’s defeat at Bridport in fine style by putting seven past Cranborne at the Avenue.

The result puts them second in the league table, with six points from their opening two games.

Antony Frost made his debut in goal for the club against the Cranes, replacing the injured Matty Peart. Sports also welcomed back former Bridport duo Adam and Jamie Symes to their starting XI.

Frost was called into early action in the opening two minutes when a Cranborne striker went through one-on-one but the home keeper stood his ground to deny the visitors an early lead.

Sports then started to settle and, on 10 minutes, took the lead when a Jamie Morgan corner was met by the head of Jason Read to power past the Cranborne keeper.

It was then an even affair and the visitors were causing the Avenue side problems on the break but on 30 minutes, the home side doubled their lead.

Adam Symes did well down the left and his cross was met by Jordan Butler to head Sports two up at half-time.

The second half started with the county town side well on top and they finished the game in quick style with a five-goal blast in 22 minutes.

The goal of the game came just five minutes after the restart when a precise one-two between Darren Boucher and Butler resulted in the latter turning on the edge of the box and curling his shot into the top corner. The Symes brothers then combined to add another when Adam crossed for brother Jamie to make it four.

A Jamie Symes effort then hit a post and Butler was there to strike for his hat-trick – his fourth treble for Sports this year.

Dorchester then brought Richard Beasley on to add more attacking power and it worked for the hosts. Morgan crossed for the substitute to add a sixth before Jamie Symes played in Beasley to add his second and round off the scoring.

Sports have already have two league hat-tricks to their names this season and Beasley was nearly the third as his shot smashed off the crossbar late on.

The Dorchester side now face a tough period of fixtures with six away games in a row but will be looking to build on their positive start.
