WEYMOUTH defender Calvin Brooks has called for the club as a whole to “stick together” and insists the Terras are not panicking after back-to-back league losses.

The talented centre-half also insisted “we are going to get it right” ahead of Weymouth’s trip to Chesham United tomorrow (3pm).

Brooks has been part of the Terras’ side that lost 2-0 at Frome last Wednesday and 2-0 at home against St Neots at the weekend.

But in both games, he feels they were unlucky to come out with negative results.

He told Echosport: “Obviously it has not been the start that we wanted but we are not panicking, we know we will improve.

“We are going to get it right and, to be honest, the mood (in training) has been quite good. There are not too many worries.

“We have been controlling possession in every game and we have probably out played everyone apart from that one Chippenham game.

“It’s just been a little bit disappointing with our cutting edge in the final third. The final ball looks a little bit poor but, then again, we have hit the bar, hit the post, and we are just lacking a bit of luck. We have just got to keep working hard and we will make our own luck.”

He added: “It’s so early to be worrying and you just have to be positive. We have all got to stick together, that’s the only way we are going to go forward.

“If we are panicking and there are things coming from the fans, the players, the board and the management, it’s not going to help anyone.

“I think a few of the new lads are starting to realise the pressure that comes with wearing the Weymouth shirt. I think it’s dawned on a few of them and I hope there’s a bit of an improvement from everyone.”

Brooks also realises how important it is to get a result against the Generals ahead of Monday’s crunch Ridgeway derby against his former side Dorchester.

“It’s a great opportunity to get three points but we know Chesham is not an easy place to go,” he said.

“We know we need to win that game to build a bit of momentum going into Monday. Hopefully we will take all three points.”
