WEYMOUTH RESERVES 1

BAFFINS MILTON ROVERS 4

MISSED chances cost Weymouth Reserves as they lost 4-1 at home to Baffins Milton Rovers to extend their winless run to four games.

Edgar Zanin scored the Terras’ only goal of the game in the first half as the sides went in level at the break.

But, the visitors were in clinical mood after Weymouth had missed a penalty in the 55th minute as they ran out comfortable winners.

Speaking after the game, Terras’ manager Bradley Asagba told Echosport: “We played better than we did against Brockenhurst.

“I don’t think it’s a stretch to say we should have been out of sight by half-time. We didn’t take our chances and when you do that against a team such as them, you won’t lose by the odd goal.

“If you give them chances, they will capitalise.”

The hosts started on the front foot and made plenty of chances.

Zanin slotted home his effort with composure before the away side equalised at the end of the first half.

Then came the pivotal moment. After the visitors took the lead at the start of the second half, Weymouth were given a penalty.

Having already scored, Zanin seemed to be in confident mood, but he missed the spot-kick, wasting a precious chance to get his side back in the game.

After that, Rovers were on top.

They netted their third soon after before scoring their fourth on the break in the closing exchanges.

This was the Terras’ third defeat in a week and their second 4-1 loss in a row.

Asked what his side could do to get out of their rut, Asagba explained: “Last week we had never lost three games in a row and now we have lost four in a row.

“It is difficult and I’m sure every manager in the world wants his side to be clinical.

“But, more importantly, we have to look at ourselves.

“When things are going badly, things seems to get worse than they should be.

“We’re struggling to weather storms. If we concede a goal then we struggle to back into the game.

“At the heart of it (the problem), it is our mentality. That goes from me all the way down to the 16th man in the squad.”

Next up for Asagba’s outfit is a trip to Romsey Town in the league as the Terras look to arrest their slide in form.
