WELLS CITY 2

BRIDPORT 2

BRIDPORT came from behind twice to earn themselves a point at the Athletic Ground against Wells City.

Goals from Mark Salter and Adam Barrett earned the Bees a valuable draw.

They could have taken more from the game late on as the hosts’ keeper made two excellent saves to keep the scores level.

Reflecting on the game, Bridport boss Adam Fricker said: “I think the draw was a fair result.

“It wasn’t one of our best performances but the positive to take from the game is that we dug in at half-time and got the point.

“After the last couple of games, I think the confidence is a little low.

“We saw some fight and some spirit and the players lifted their game.”

It was the hosts that took the lead in the first half, before Barrett strode forward from left-back to round the keeper and slot home in the 56th minute. But, Wells were back in the lead soon after.

The Bees hit back again 11 minutes before time, substitute Tom Blair produced one of the crosses of the night to pick out Salter, who headed home with aplomb to level the game. Chances came and went for both sides late on, but the points were shared.

Bees: Hutchings, Barrett (Condliffe 73), Hayter, Regan, Spurway, Bulman, Symes (Blair 69), Martin, Peach, Butcher, Salter. Subs not used: Chlopecki, Haines, Smith
