TERRAS’ ace Ashley Wells spoke out to thank the club’s travelling support following their FA Cup exit at the hands of Kidderminster Harriers.

A group of 160 Weymouth fans made the trip to Aggborough and, despite their side being on the end of a 6-0 hiding, the Terras’ faithful were still in fine voice come the final whistle.

Wells conceded that the visitors were “nowhere near” their best throughout the fourth qualifying round clash and wished Weymouth could have rewarded those that had made the journey from Dorset with a better display.

Asked about the support for the club on the day, he told Echosport: “The fans were class.

“Even though it was a 6-0 drubbing, they stuck behind us and did very well.

“They travelled in numbers to Kidderminster, it would have been better if we had performed better for them.”

He added: “They are great fans, whenever we go away we are so well supported.

“They were the loudest people in the ground.

“They give you that boost to keep you running, even when you are five or 6-0 down.

“You want to keep plugging away for them because they spent their money and enjoyed their day, you feel like you need to repay them.”

Also giving his thoughts on the game as a whole, the long serving right-back emphasised the level at which Kidderminster performed in comparison to the Terras.

He said: “It put it into perspective just how sharp and how quick you have to be to step up to that next level.

“We had been scoring goals, creating chances and playing really well but Saturday fell in around us.

“We want to play at this sort of level and we now know how well you have to play.

“I don’t we played our best football and were nowhere near.”

Wells continued: “When you give them a chance and give them three goals in the first half, they were always going to dominate the game.

“They obviously watched us and put balls into the box.

“We didn’t deal with them and they scored from it.

“It was a bit disappointing that, on one of the biggest stages, we didn’t perform to how we can.”

Club chairman Chris Pugsley also wished to thank the travelling Terras' support.

He added: "A huge thank you to those who went to Kidderminster for their massive support and impeccable behaviour.

"They were an absolute credit to the club."
