CONTENTED Mark Jermyn felt it was a point earned as his Dorchester Town side kept their second clean sheet in two games with a 0-0 draw against Redditch United.

The Magpies struggled to create many chances in the stalemate that was dominated by the two team’s defences.

However, Jermyn was keen to take the positives away from the game.

Speaking to Echosport, he said: “A draw was a fair result. Neither side created many chances and in the second half they looked like they wanted a point.

“We were on the front foot and we tried to go for it.”

Dorchester’s defence were solid throughout but, the player-manager picked out his two holding midfielders for praise.

He added: “Lewis Morgan and Jake Smeeton were outstanding. Some of their work rate and desire is incredible.

“Jake leads like a captain and his attitude is second to none.”

He added: “We’re in a position where we are clawing our way up and we’ve spoke before about picking our fights.

“Our level of consistency has been brilliant so I’m pleased with how the team have played.

“We had opportunities to break forward but we couldn’t nick one and it just wasn’t our day.”

There’s little rest for the Magpies as they hit the road on Tuesday night to take on Slough Town, who lost 4-1 to Basingstoke Town on Saturday.
