TERRAS’ chief Jason Matthews admitted his side’s second-half showing against King’s Lynn simply “wasn’t good enough”.

A chorus of boos was heard once again at the Bob Lucas Stadium on the final whistle, as Weymouth had to settle for a 0-0 draw having looked lacklustre in the second period.

The Terras have now only scored nine times in nine league games at home this term, and missed opportunities in the first half also left player-manager Matthews wondering what might have been.

Giving his reaction after the game, he told Echosport: “We created good chances early doors and didn’t take them.

“That, for me, gave King’s Lynn a lift and I felt we could have been there all night in the second half.

“Our performance in the second half wasn’t good enough, we didn’t get it down and play enough and I felt we looked a little bit jaded, which is incredibly frustrating.”

He continued: “A draw was a fair result. King’s Lynn came to do a job and they did that job well.

“Obviously they had an extra man in midfield and we didn’t pass it well enough. We kept giving the ball back to them and that was the reason we didn’t win the game.

“It goes back to us being consistent, that needs to be for the whole 90 minutes.

“It’s very rare that I would say this but I felt King’s Lynn were fitter and just showed that little bit more at the end of the second half.”

Asked about the negative reaction at full-time, Matthews replied: “I know that we need to win every home game. If we don’t, we get booed, it’s a simple fact of being manager of Weymouth Football Club.”
