WAREHAM RANGERS 0

BLISTERING Balti Sports found themselves on cloud nine in the Dorset Premier League on Saturday, as they emphatically dispatched Wareham Rangers at Purbeck Sports Centre.

Danny Andrews notched a hat-trick for the Weymouth-based side and Oscar Preece bagged a brace, which included a bullet header.

There were also goals for Ricky Lane, who converted a penalty, Ethan Devaney, Charlie Kenderdine and Sean Zima on an afternoon where the league leaders ran riot, much to the delight of their manager Marco Nott.

He told Echosport: “It was really impressive, we were ruthless all game, to be honest.

“We were really clinical in front of goal and scored some excellent goals.

“They (Wareham) actually had some good possession at times, especially in the first half but every time we broke forward we ended up scoring, it was quite surreal.”

The victory puts Balti 12 points clear at the top of the league at present, although second-placed Holt United have five games in hand.

Nott said: “We knew we had a chance to extend our lead to 12 points and that’s the sort of message we hit home really. We didn’t want to waste the opportunity.

“We are in a good place at the moment. When your confidence is high things just work for you.

“We have a lot of attacking options going forward that can score goals. We have a good balance at the moment between good defending and good finishing.

“The way we are keeping clean sheets at the moment is also outstanding. Josh Houghton played the whole game in goal again on Saturday with Andy (Nott) out injured.

“Josh has come in and he is so well protected by our back four, Dan Welch and Phil Anderson have been immense at the back.”

On hat-trick hero Andrews, Nott added: “Danny is back looking really sharp now. He has had a bad groin strain since November.

“A couple of his goals were outstanding and he set the ball rolling on Saturday with a volley from the edge of the area.

“Whatever he hit seemed to go in.”
