DORCHESTER Town midfielder Ollie Griggs has been ruled out for up to six weeks after suffering a broken hand.

The youngster, who is on loan until the end of the season from Eastleigh, had just started to make an impact on the first team and will be bitterly disappointed to be ruled out going into a vital period for the club.

Speaking of the news, manager Craig Laird said: “Ollie was probably one of the shining lights from last Saturday’s performance, he played very well in the middle of midfield alongside Jonny Vance, I thought they both did well and he’s unfortunate to pick up this injury.

“He’s a young lad starting out in his career, and he’s found his way into the first team and he’ll have wanted to cement himself, but these are the ups and downs of football and you have to take these things on the chin.”

The Magpies will now be looking at other members of the squad to make an impact in the team, starting in this Saturday’s difficult match at home to Dunstable Town (3pm).
