NATHAN Walker was among the prizes in Dorchester Town’s awards night, held at the Trinity Club.

The Magpies’ skipper headed up the accolades on the night, with the awards being presented by England legend, Sir Geoff Hurst.

Having already been presented with the first-team’s player of the year, Walker went on to scoop the Dinky Curtis award for outstanding service and be named first-team players’ player by the squad.

Tom Blair, who was unable to attend on the evening, scooped the Magpies’ online player of the year as well as being named Dorset Echo player of year.

The club’s Jack Lambert trophy, awarded for the most sporting player was given to Sol Ayunga.

In the reserve team, who have performed admirably in the Wyvern League and cup competitions under manager Rich Robson this term, Dan Payne was awarded the player of the year accolade.

Players’ player in that side went to skipper Simon Proffitt. The John Rennie trophy for effort went to Joshua Hills and the Lubbecke trophy, given to the most promising player, was awarded to Olly Balmer.

The club’s Ability Counts set-up also awarded their trophies on the night.

In the A team, Danny Kiy was named players’ player, while Jamie Bown picked up the award for manager’s player. Jack Harrison was named most improved.

The B team saw Kelsey Lavis pick up players’ player. While Tom Best was named most improved and manager’s player. The clubman award went to Jack Buik, while the entire club’s supporter of the year was Kath Buik.

Awards that were already presented by the club went to Phillip Standfield, who was named clubman of the year and junior supporter of the year was Tom Johnson-Newell.

Speaking on the night, club chairman Matt Lucas said: “The most important thing about the night was that, under one roof, we had representatives of our youth teams, walking football, ability counts, the reserves and the first team.

“It was a real celebration of the club. For everyone to wear the black and white of Dorchester Town Football Club and be together is how it should be.”
