DORCHESTER Sports celebrated their continued growth as a club as they held their end-of-season presentation at the Victoria Hotel in Dorchester.

With both the club’s first team and reserves stepping up to new challenges last season, Sports recorded a campaign to remember, with the first-team being hugely successful at their new home at the Avenue.

The county town side’s first team finished seventh in the Dorset Premier League, while the reserve set-up sealed third spot in the Dorset Senior League.

Jamie Symes was the star of the show for the first team last term and he was rewarded with prizes for first-team top goalscorer, players’ player and sponsor’s player for the campaign.

First-team manager’s player, awarded by boss Ashley James, went to Richard Beasley.

Goal of the season went to goalkeeper Sam Turner for his halfway line free-kick against Hamworthy and the most improved player award went to Luke Gatehouse.

In the reserves, former Terra Jamie West was the big winner on the night.

Playing as a striker, he claimed the reserves’ players’ player, a manager’s player and top goalscorer accolades.

With two managers in Andy Mallet and Steve Churchill running the side last term, the other manager’s player prize went to Luke Hillier

The second team’s goal of the season prize went to Sam Pashen, while most improved was Jamie Rawlings.

Other club awards went to Matty Peart, who was named clubman of the year and Jason Read was recognised for reaching 100 first-team appearances.

Boss James told Echosport: “We had a good season, in the end I think both teams were initially a little bit disappointed but I suppose that’s a testament to how far we have come.

“Last season we were in two new leagues, with two new grounds for those teams and two new managers in the reserves as well.

"Some big players have come in and, next season, hopefully we can build.”
