CENTRAL midfielder Chloe Lloyd and centre back Gemma Evans have only just recently returned from representing Great Britain at the World University Games, but on doing so, have recently signed for Yeovil Town Ladies ahead of the new season.

Lloyd and Evans had been training with the Yeovil squad, prior to their departure to Taipei, in Asia, where they represented the Great Britain University Female Football Team.

Both Lloyd and Evans are students from the University of South Wales, and bring with them a hunger and desire for the upcoming season, which starts on 24th September, with a home match against Manchester City Women at Huish Park.

Midfielder Lloyd said “I’m delighted to have signed for Yeovil Town. The girls have been really welcoming.

“It’s going to be a tough season, but I’m excited to see what it brings.”

Both players have been on the radar of manager Jamie Sherwood for some time.

Lloyd will boost the midfield area of the pitch and with her passing and vision, along with her calmness in possession, will be a good addition to an already strong central area.

Evans meanwhile, will secure the defence, which will have to be resilient against some of the best forwards in the world.

The defender is expected to use her game understanding and knowledge to her advantage.

Evans, identically to Lloyd, is a Wales International.

She has competed at the elite levels on the world stage.

This included playing against European champions the Netherlands back in July ahead of their UEFA tournament, which the Dutch eventually went on to win.

On signing, Evans said “It feels good to have finally made a decision and to sign for Yeovil Town Ladies.

“I look forward to the challenges ahead at a great club, with a good bunch of girls.”

Lloyd and Evans, will be in the squad for tomorrow’s pre-season friendly against Oxford Utd.

And manager Jamie Sherwood is keen for fans to get to know them both.

He said: “Chloe and Gemma are two players which will give everything they’ve got to help this team and club succeed.

“The recent changes in personnel makes our squad a young, energetic and hungry team, who will support each other and run until they physically can’t run any more.

“I am sure that fans will see this commitment from everyone involved, not least from Chloe and Gemma.”
