HOLT UNITED 6

BALTI Sports boss Marco Nott labelled his side's performance in their 6-0 Dorset Premier League thrashing at champions Holt United as "shambolic".

Nott's side, who consequently lost their place at the league's summit, were completely overrun in the first half as the Bulls opened a 5-0 half-time lead before scoring a sixth late on.

Nathan Saxby hit a hat-trick, Sam Pearce bagged a brace and Mike Haskell also scored for Holt, causing Nott to launch into a scathing attack on his side, lamenting a series of "unbelievable errors" in defence.

He told Echosport: "It was shambolic. Holt are very good and their two strikers were outstanding. It was 5-0 at half-time and you can imagine how unimpressed we were.

"We made some unbelievable errors at the back. We said to them not to do anything stupid. It was almost as if I didn't say it. We played from the back and lost the ball in stupid areas.

"Their two midfielders ran through and scored a couple of goals. To be 5-0 down at half-time was just embarrassing, we were never good enough."

But Nott denied the harrowing result was due to complacency.

"It's Holt away. Notoriously it's going to be a hard game. There's absolutely no reason to take the game lightly.

"The first goal was a ball over the top. Their lad raced to the corner flag, crossed it and we didn't track their midfielder, who scored.

"That was after 10 minutes. Straight away you're on the back foot. It was such a poor goal for us to concede."

And Nott felt that Sports had developed a trait of conceding goals "in clusters".

He said: "Sometimes my main criticism is the mentality. They almost collapse.

"A few games we might concede one in one half and a goal in the second, but we're conceding goals in clusters - it's absolutely awful.

"It's definitely a massive weakness we have got - not being switched on.

"We can't keep scoring five, six, seven goals to win football matches. I felt for Danny Andrews up top because he didn't get anything all day. It was unbelievably disappointing."

But Balti's afternoon may have turned out differently had a goal not been disallowed with the score at 2-0.

Nott said: "It was hard to see where we were. Apparently there was a goal ruled out for offside. Sammy (Nichols) raced through and slotted it in. It could've been a little different but I'm clutching at straws.

"Second half we changed the shape to 3-5-2 and we were a different team. It was a combination of them slacking off I think."
