DORCHESTER Town assistant-manager Trevor Senior is looking to “put right” the wrongs of the Magpies’ 5-1 defeat to Banbury United in the return fixture at the Avenue Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

Banbury swept aside Dorchester in the opening game of the new Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division season, scoring three goals in 22 minutes.

And Senior wants to avoid a repeat display against a Puritans team containing ex-Weymouth striker Jefferson Louis.

He told Echosport: “We went there and I think we got caught out with three goals in 22 minutes. That’s hard to come back from.

“I think we got it wrong and we played into their hands a little bit. We don’t want to make that mistake now.

“They’ve got one or two dangers, Jefferson Louis is a focal point up front. They like to play football and they mixed it up against us in the first game.

“We got caught pushing on too early and we have to put that right this time.”

Dorchester secured a big coup in signing New Zealand international striker Rory Fallon in midweek, and Senior said the club is “delighted” by his addition to the squad.

“We’re delighted. He’s a really big presence and the more games he plays, the better for us. He gives us a different dimension.

“Phil Ormrod is a reasonable target man and Rory’s heading ability is a big asset to us, not that we want to knock the ball long, but it gives us another option.

“The players around him can hopefully reap the rewards. He had a good debut and the more games we can have him he’ll start to get even better,” he said.

The Magpies have been hampered by a lengthy list of absentees in recent games and Senior expects that to continue, with only Gary Bowles set to come back into contention.

He said: “Chris Clarke will still be struggling, he’s probably another week away. Chris Weale is a big loss with his one-game suspension.

“I think Chris has made some good saves and he’s hit a bit of form. As a group we could do with a few more clean sheets but that’s not just down to him.”
