DORCHESTER Town striker Rory Fallon has been recalled to the New Zealand international setup for the All Whites' crucial World Cup play-off against Peru.

Fallon, who is nursing a hamstring strain sustained in the Magpies' 2-1 FA Trophy win over Basingstoke Town, has not played a competitive match for his country since March 2016.

Thirty-five year-old Fallon has just 24 caps and six international goals to his name, with his selection seen as a shock back in his homeland.

The Kiwi will be competing for a starting berth alongside Burnley striker Chris Wood and Shane Smeltz of Borneo, who both have 24 international goals to their name.

Magpies' boss Steve Thompson said Fallon could be fit for the opening leg.

He said: "Rory's hamstrong's not too bad and he's hopeful to be fit for the first game."

New Zealand face Peru in Wellington on Saturday, November 11 before the return leg in Lima on Wednesday, November 15.
