Portland United will be looking to get a bad defeat out of their system at home to Hamble on Saturday after a disappointing midweek defeat to Hamworthy United in the Sydenhams Wessex Premier League.

The Blues had won three league games in a row before the defeat away to Hamworthy, where Blues' manager Simon Browne felt his side could have come away with all three points.

Browne said: “We want to get the last match out of our system and get three points. I think if we play with the same sort energy and commitment then I will be happy”

Former Dorchester player Jamie Gleeson sealed the defeat for the Blues midway through the second half after a volley from 20 yards out.

Browne knows what to expect from Saturday visitors, as he said: “They’re quite a big physical side and they’re going to be coming to the island prepared to do battle.”

Alex Halloran will be available after serving a one-match suspension against Hamworthy while Alex Godfrey will hopefully be back available for the Blues.

“We will have a battle on Saturday but hopefully we will put the same effort and commitment that we did against Hamworthy then that should stand us in good stead.”

“We’ve been getting better and better, last night was a blip because of the result not necessarily the performance and I want to carry that into Saturday and onwards from there.”

Hamble are currently 11th in the table, one point and two places behind Portland.
