CORFE Mullen and New Milton won their respective age groups after the 2018 Jurassic Coast Girls Futsal Cup took place at the 3D Health and Fitness Wey Valley School.

The event, now in its ninth year, was a success and has grown into a full day event incorporating under seven's, under nine's and under 11's age groups, with further expansion plans on the horizon.

Corfe Mullen United Juniors won the under 11's competition with New Milton Ladies Youth coming second while Corfe Mullen United won the plate competition.

For the under nine's competition New Milton Ladies Youth won with Jurassic Coast Girls Storm coming in second.

The under sevens was a spectacular lunchtime exhibition match contested by players from Jurassic Coast Girls FC under seven's squad. They received tremendous support from all the visiting teams and coaches that were arriving for the afternoon session, creating a fantastic and supportive atmosphere.

This year teams came from far and wide, many from adjacent counties with SAS Girls of Barnstable and New Milton Ladies travelling the furthest from each direction.

The competition was designed to create a less competitive learning environment with under nines and under 11s consisting of a round robin followed by a increase in competitiveness being added by a knockout playoff phase.

Futsal is the only version of Indoor Football International recognised by FIFA, played Indoors on a basketball sized court with a reduced bounce ball. Hugely popular in Latin & Asian Countries, the close ball control and quick transitions the game generates has been credited for the development of many of the worlds leading players.

Jurassic Coast Girls FC Chairman & Event Organiser Nathan Wood said: "The event had such an amazing atmosphere with coaches, players and spectators alike, supporting & encouraging all teams and age groups, my personal highlight was the visiting U11 teams arriving, supporting, encouraging and applauding the U7’s who were taking part in an exhibition match, many there first time playing football in front of an audience.”

Former Portland United player Simon Linard, from the Merley Cobham Youth Girls, said: "Thank you for inviting us to the Futsal Tournament, our girls had a great day. It was their first experience of Futsal, they enjoyed every minute and learnt loads, something that will help them for the future, we will be back next time!

"As always another excellent JCGFC tournament, well organised and played within the right spirit. Thanks again for organising and giving our girls a great experience."

Ken Bale, from the under 11 Girl's SAS: "I would like to say thank JCGFC for the awesome futsal tournament, there was some great football on show, great friendly attitudes and I found the support all the teams got was second to none, thank you for a great day the girls really enjoyed it."
