DORCHESTER assistant-manager Trevor Senior rued a Billy Lowes miss as a potential turning point as he saw his side beat 4-0 by St Neots Town in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.

The moment came towards the end of the first half when the Magpies were trailing 2-0 thanks to early efforts from Thomas Meechan and Dion Sembie-Ferris.

Senior said: “I think one of the turning points could have been the shot from Antonio (Diaz) that the keeper parried and Billy Lowes put wide, he knows, he said at half-time it was easier to score.

“You come in at 2-1 it is different, at 2-0 I still felt we were in it with the way we played in the last 20 minutes of the first half.”

The Magpies were hit hard in the wet conditions at a sodden Avenue Stadium and were two goals down after 16 minutes, before conceding early and again conceding twice in the first 14 minutes of the second half.”

Summing up his overall thoughts on the performance, Senior said: “I am disappointed we have been playing well. We prepared the same way that we have for the last two or three games

“They looked sharper going forward, picked up any second balls in midfield. To concede two goals in quite quick time was disappointing.”

“It took us about 25 minutes to get into the game. I thought then we passed it well, moved it quicker and got further up the pitch.

Senior took charge for the match with Steve Thompson absent.

He added: “We kept going right until the end and tried to create a few chances and we did.”

n A pitch inspection will be held this morning ahead of Dorchester Reserves' John Stimpson Memorial Challenge Shield clash with Salisbury tonight.
