WEYLINE secured the Weymouth Sunday League Premiership title in emphatic fashion by hammering Alexandra 5-0 at the Stalls.

Adam Parker’s men took the lead on 11 minutes when Ethan Devaney set up Danny Andrews who made no mistake from just 12 yards.

The impressive strike duo have been the key ingredient in Weyline’s incredible season to date so it was no surprise when they combined twice more around the half-hour mark with Devaney adding a quickfire brace.

The Alex continued to battle but they had no answer for the league leaders, who then went on to add a fourth on the 40-minute mark when Liam Miles slipped in Andrews for his 40th goal of the season.

After the break, the hosts tightened up at the back and gave Weyline a few more problems but they still conceded one more when a quick exchange between Andrews and Dan McDonald on 61 minutes led to Ben Mackie grabbing the fifth from just eight yards.

The game then petered out after that but the final whistle was soon met with celebration when news filtered through that Rodwell had only managed a 1-1 draw with Tuatara Bar, handing Weyline their first trophy in what could turn out to be an historic treble-winning season.

The top-flight champions not only have a date with Rodwell at the Bob Lucas Stadium on April 29 (10.30am) in the Dorset Sunday Intermediate Cup final but they are also in the last four of the Len Mahoney Cup, following a 6-2 win over Portland Town Lions.

The Championship outfit took a shock 2-0 lead thanks to a brace from Chris Stones but Weyline came steaming back with Andrews grabbing four and Nigel Evans and Sam Pattison bagging one apiece.

Devaney and Andrews have now scored 74 goals between them in all competitions this season and provided an incredible 36 assists.
