PORTLAND United will be looking to maintain their early-season momentum when return to action at Cranborne tomorrow (3pm).

The Blues are the only side in the Magna Dorset Premier League still with a 100 per cent record to their name, following five wins from as many games.

They were without a fixture last weekend, meaning they lost their grip on top spot, but boss Chris Wilson remains hopeful there will be no disruption to their flow.

Tomorrow’s hosts are currently 15th with four points from a possible 15 but Wilson is taking nothing for granted.

He said: “Most seasons they will pull out a result when you least expect it, we will just try to pick up from where we left off and keep our run going.

“We knew about the week’s break and it’s given the likes of Adam Linaker, Andy Harris and Tom Bell the chance to recover from knocks.

“Lloyd Cranny is also back to full fitness now so with the exception of Ben Doidge, who is suspended, we are at full tilt.”

Weymouth Reserves will be out to continue their impressive form against Poole Borough at the Bob Lucas Stadium (3pm). The Terras are unbeaten in their last three in the league and last time out beat perennial high-fliers Hamworthy Recreation 3-0.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s visit of the Hornets, joint-boss Jake Richmond said: “We might lose a couple of lads to the first team yet but even if that happens we have some good youngsters champing at the bit for a chance.

“If we play like we did against Hamworthy Rec then we should pick up another good result. That is not the be-all and end-all for us but winning games does breed confidence and that is important in terms of player development.”

Chickerell United face a tough home encounter against third-placed Wincanton Town (3pm).

The Chickens did not have a game last weekend and Maurice Welch is hoping his men will return refreshed for what promises to be an intriguing contest.

The United boss said: “Wincanton are a very strong side so we are under no illusions about the task ahead.

“We have six players missing including Dan Welch, Josh Burton, Che Curran, Joel Protheroe, Lee Pattison and Sean Stewart but hopefully those that step in will rise to the challenge.”

Robin Townsend will take charge of Bridport Reserves for the first time tomorrow when they host Shaftesbury at St Mary’s Field (3pm). The ex-Lyme Regis boss has inherited the reins from Steve Crabb and Mark Lock.
