TREVOR Senior has warned his Bees to be on their guard tomorrow afternoon.

Following last weekend’s FA Vase triumph at Tavistock, third-placed Bridport return to Toolstation Western Premier Division duty with a trip to Street (3pm).

Tomorrow’s hosts have lost four of their last five matches in all competitions but Senior remains wary.

He said: “To be honest, I thought they would be a lot higher than they are. They seem to have brought in a few players, including two or three from Wells, who were strong last season, so we certainly won’t take them lightly.

“We know it’s going to be a tricky one. We went there last year and won 2-0 but then drew 4-4 at home at the end of last season after being 4-0 up, so we will have to be on our guard.

“There have been some funny results this season so you can’t take anything for granted. Bitton were beaten 6-0 at home by Wells last Saturday and then you see Bishop Sutton, who were in the top six last season, still without a win.

“Most teams have only played five games so far, and it won’t be for another five games that you begin to get a truer reflection.”

Bridport’s cause will be boosted by the return of star striker Ryan Dovell, who was unavailable six days ago.

However, his inclusion is offset by the absence of fellow forward Matt Condliffe while Sam Buckler serves a one-match ban following his dismissal in the goalless draw at Bishop Sutton last month.

Senior added: “Ryan is back, which is a big boost, but unfortunately Matt is unavailable.

“Sam is suspended for one match but Max Buckler is available again. However, he picked up a bit of a shin problem in a practice match earlier this week. If he’s okay then he will be in the squad.”
