CHRIS Wilson is calling on his Blues to keep their eye on the prize as they bid to maintain their perfect start to the season against Merley Cobham Sports (3pm).

Portland United currently occupy top spot in the Magna Dorset Premier League courtesy of seven wins in as many outings.

Their latest success came at home to second-placed Holt United and while tomorrow’s visitors to Grove Corner sit at the wrong end of the table, Wilson is urging his troops to retain their focus.

The manager said: “Things are going well and you have to take the positives while you can.

“But if you take your eye off the ball at any stage, this game can turn pretty quickly and you can find yourself on the back of a few bad results.

“Merley have not had the best of starts but we can only focus on ourselves and make sure we prepare ourselves properly.”

The table-toppers will again be without the services of injured duo Adam Linaker (hamstring) and Jordan Vincent (knee).

Wilson added: “Adam and Jordan will be out for two or three weeks.

“Adam came back against Cran-borne nearly two weeks ago and it was a bit too early so we will make sure he has fully recovered before he comes back again.”

Chickerell United will be out to end their five-game winless streak tomorrow when they host Wareham Rangers (3pm).

Dan Welch is expected to return for the Chickens but Tom Peck, Jamie Sibley and Liam Beades all look set to miss out.

United boss Maurice Welch said: “Wareham have picked up a few results of late so it won’t be easy but hopefully we can regroup and give them a good game.

“Dan is a big influence and leads by example so it will be good to have him back, but we will be missing Tom and Jamie, and maybe even Liam as well.

“Tom has gone back to university and Jamie is away for a couple of weeks, while Liam is struggling for fitness.

“We are finding it hard to get a settled side at the moment but there were some good performances at Hamwor-thy Recreation last weekend and hopefully we can build on those.

“Josh Burton and Aston Butcher both did well at the back and I also thought Josh Why was a threat up front.

“All we need to do is start cutting out the individual mistakes and once we do that we will be fine.”

Robin Townsend has urged Brid-port Reserves to keep the momentum going at Parley Sports tomorrow (3pm).

The Bees currently sit fifth, one place above tomorrow’s opponents, and their boss has been encouraged by their fine start to the campaign.

Townsend said: “To be in the top five after seven games is very pleasing but it is important we now look to build on that.

“Last weekend, I was pleased with the three points at Tintinhull but not so pleased with the performance, as I know we can play much better.

“We need to start raising our game a bit and it would be great to do that tomorrow. With Parley just behind us it would be a great game to win.”

Jamie Fry is available again but it is unclear whether he will waltz straight back into the side following a fine performance from Lee Cuff in Yeovil.

Adam Steele and Michael Hailu could also return but it looks like Darren Lock may have played his last game for the club.

Townsend added: “Darren has a bad back and as he is joining the Army soon I don’t think he is going to risk it anymore.

“He has been a great servant to this club and is going to be a huge miss for us. We wish him all the best.”

Weymouth Reserves are without a fixture this weekend but will be in action on Tuesday when they travel to Hamworthy United Reserves (7.45pm).
