STEPHEN Reed is loving life at the Bob Lucas Stadium this season and believes it is only a matter of time before results on the pitch reflect the quality in the dressing room.

Since leaving Yeovil Town in 2006, the 27-year-old midfielder has sampled eight different clubs and become known as a bit of a journeyman, but he now feels right at home at the Terras and is adamant good times lie ahead.

Speaking to Echosport, Reed said: “This is probably the best team I have played in for a while and although results haven’t gone our way so far there is no doubt the club is heading in the right direction.

“Brendon King and Matt Groves did a fantastic job in the summer attracting the likes of Barry McConnell, Kyle Critchell, Danny Clay, Scott Walker and Dan Smith to the club and in time I have no doubts we will be flying.

“All we need is a couple of wins to kick-start our season and we will be off and running.

“It always takes time for things to gel when a lot of new players come in but there is no doubting the quality we have in the side and I am confident things will start going our way sooner rather than later.

“Some of the football we have played at times has been fantastic and all we need to do is try and stay confident.

“The league table doesn’t lie and we know we should be doing better but sometimes you need to be patient before everything comes together.”

When asked to comment on the spirit in the camp following just two wins in 11, Reed went on to add: “Obviously we are a little frustrated with how results have gone but apart from that it is good.

“The management team and backroom staff are doing all the right things and all we want to do as players is start repaying them on the pitch with some victories.

“At this standard, you can dominate large periods in games but still come unstuck and unfortunately that is what we have been finding but it is important we do not become too disheartened by that.

“We just need something to go our way and once it does, I have no doubts that at some point we will go on to hammer someone by five or six.”

The Terras will host Tiverton Town in the first qualifying round of the FA Trophy this afternoon (3pm) and Reed is expecting it to be a typical cup tie.

He said: “Tivvy are no mugs. We drew 0-0 with them in pre-season and they are a decent side.

“They are flying high in the league below and are on a decent run of form so it is going to be tough.

“The injuries we have at the moment aren’t going to help either but with our loyal fans right behind us hopefully we will step up to the plate and deliver the goods.”
