WEYLINE 6 MARKET HOUSE 2

AFTER the previous week’s capitulation, Weyline returned to winning ways but were made to work hard by a determined Market House side.

Fielding a strong side, which included the returning Sean Stewart in midfield, the reigning Weymouth Sunday Premiership champions soon found themselves a goal behind when their defence opened up to allow Jack Huson to burst through and plant his shot into the bottom corner.

However, Weyline hit back and were level on nine minutes when a 25-yard free-kick from Stewart managed to squirm under the keeper’s legs and over the line.

Ten minutes later, some neat interplay by Weyline saw Danny Andrews and Lee Pattison finish the move with a perfect one-two and the latter buried his 20-yard shot into the roof of the net.

The game was finely balanced with both sides creating chances but failing to really test either keeper.

That was until the 35th minute when Weyline extended their lead and it was Pattison again who provided the finish after a mazy solo run.

Andrews added some gloss to the scoreline a minute before half-time as his side went into the break leading 4-1.

Market House started the second period brightly and on the hour-mark they found a route back into the game when Huson got his second of the morning.

House continued to probe but were unable to force gloveman James Parkes into serious action and the points were sealed five minutes from time when a precise through ball from Josh Burton found Andrews, who made no mistake from the edge of the area.

The Weyline hitman was not finished yet though, and he completed his hat-trick soon after, heading home a cross from Craig Wells.

Weyline assistant Rob Pavey said: “After last week’s freak result (a 10-1 defeat to Rendezvous), it was important to get back to winning ways.

“Credit to Market House as they played some good football at times but we always had that extra quality where it counted.”
