BRENDON King is sick of sounding like a broken record and takes full responsibility for the Terras’ latest plight in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.

Once again Weymouth experienced plenty of misfortune in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Bedworth United but ultimately they have now picked up just three points from their last six league games, which makes very grim reading for all concerned.

King told Echosport: “I am getting bored and fed up of saying the same thing week-in, week-out.

“They say you make your own luck and if you work hard enough it will eventually turn but we are getting none.

“A couple of chances went either way before Stephen Reed struck a post from the edge of the area.

“On another day that flies in and we are ahead but instead they then went straight up the other end and scored.

“Then, just after the break, their keeper pulls of a top-class save to deny Ben Joyce before one of their lads hits a worldy to make it 2-0 just seconds later.

“We had a big shout for handball in the box turned down and also had several other good opportunities but for whatever reason nothing is going our way.”

The Terras have gone behind in eight of their 10 league games so far this season while the other two ended in goalless draws.

When asked to comment on that alarming statistic, King added: “That is actually something we spoke about before the game and there is no doubt we are getting a little bit stretched at times.

“Perhaps we should be tighter as a unit but we have a lot of good quality attacking players and it is very difficult to rein them in.

“I also think they are so desperate now for something to go their way that they are pouring forward to try and get that first goal in order to give them a boost.

“It is certainly something we need to address and we need to do it soon.

“The thing is, it is impossible to knock the lads at the moment. The passion, commitment and effort are all there and we are creating chances. If it wasn’t there then I would be the first to point the finger but it is and all we can do is keep plugging away.”

Having seen their side pick up just eight points from 10 games, it is no surprise that some Terras’ fans are losing patience with King but the determined manager is adamant things will turn around.

He said: “Ultimately, results on the pitch are my responsibility and I am big enough and ugly enough to handle that.

“If we were playing badly and not creating chances then I would be worried but at times we are producing some great stuff and there is no doubt we have made a lot of advances since last season.

“Of course everyone is disappointed and the league table never lies but I am confident that as a group we will turn it around sooner rather than later.”

Weymouth now sit fifth bottom in the table, just one point above the drop-zone having played more games than the four teams below them.
