DETERMINED: Eddie Mitchell, left, and Shaun Brooks
SHAUN Brooks says he will hold his hands up and walk away if he fails to help the Magpies regain their Blue Square South status.
The director of football made the statement at last night's Fans' Forum, held at the Jewson Stadium, where majority shareholder Eddie Mitchell was also
present.
Having watched Dorchester suffer relegation this season, a term that also saw Brooks fall ill with cancer, the Magpies' boss is confident he can take the club back up the non-League pyramid.
He said: "I feel lucky every day that I'm still walking on this planet. I would like to think that when I did come back after the illness there was an upturn in results.
"If we don't go back up I'll hold my hands up and walk away. But next year I would like to think that we will get out of the division and then be competitive in the Blue Square South again.
"I've taken the club down but I back my ability and knowledge to get the club back where it belongs."

Of Brooks' beliefs, Mitchell said: "I would be disappointed if Shaun stood by that statement, but that's how strongly he believes in his ability. We are building a side and it will take time but we both want to be here for the five years of our plan. We're anxious to take the club forward."
The property developer was also quizzed about what he hopes to achieve at the club in his five-year plan.
He added: "A better standard of football, better facilities, and a self-supporting club, for which I'm looking at the bigger picture.
"I want the club to be in a better situation than it is now. A winning team would help but it wouldn't solve the problem of being self-supporting. Getting 800 people through the gate would go a long way and would also help Shaun's cause, but I
don't intend to solely support the club forever."
Other issues discussed at the forum included the possibility of the first team training at the Rec for next season, introducing soccer schools run by the players and Brooks' attempts at bringing in new players for next season.
He said: "We need more physical presence and we do need two more strikers at the club. However, I do believe that Jones Awuah will get 20 goals next season.
"Wes Fogden, who we had on loan earlier in the season, is out of contract at Brighton and we would like to get him back."
The topic of ground sharing was also raised, to which Mitchell replied: "The only way to keep this level of football going is for clubs to ground share and amalgamate and we've seen that already but it's not what I'm planning."

Mr Brooks can do us all a favour NOW and B****R OFF.
HE HAS NO CHANCE OF GETTING US PROMOTED WITH THE BUNCH OF IDOITS HE HAS SIGNED ALREADY.
[bold]GO NOW AND SAVE US THE HEARTBREAK OF ANOTHER S**T SEASON[/bold]
